THE BEST ADVICE NO ONE TELLS YOU WHEN VISITING NEW YORK CITY

Over the past several months I've noticed multiple people reaching out to me via Instagram inquiring over what to do and where to go when visiting New York City. Anyone can tell you this is an open ended question with more answers than anyone could count. I could go on and on about the many sites and spots to visit and things to do in the city, but these are a few things I always tell people when visiting the Big Apple.

1. Break up your trip by neighborhood
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between needs to be within a dedicated mile radius. Do not plan on venturing below 14th street when you have plans to visit the Moma in Midtown. Choose wisley and ensure you scheduled time for a coffee break in between.

2. Splurge on a good meal
New York City is definitely not a cheap place, but there are ways to save dollars while splurging. Save your dough on breakfast and lunch and make dinner your main course spending spree. There are so many top-notch places to dine and this particular post isn't long enough to share all my top spots. Just be sure you get in one great meal before leaving the city that never sleep.

3. Take the Subway
Uber and cabs are great, but the subway is the real deal. I personally find nothing better than riding a subway downtown to uptown. Don't get me wrong, a crowded subway car is the worst, but on the occasion you find yourself in a roomy space you need to enjoy the ride. This is a first hand experience as a true New Yorker and you won't want to miss it.

4. Not every New Yorker is angry
Do not be shy to ask a neighboring New Yorker a question. If you are lost, someone will be kind enough to offer their two sense on getting around. New Yorkers love dropping New York knowledge. I guarantee someone at the local coffee shop would be happy to divulge all their latest New York finds in less than a New York minute.

5. Go to at least one show
A concert, a show, a play, a magic show, whatever it is, just go. Do not leave the city without experiencing at least one performance. New York has some amazing musical acts tour through the city in some of the smallest, but equally prolific theaters. Some concerts are as low as $20 a ticket and I promise it could be one the best performances you have ever seen. Whether you plan ahead for a Broadway extravaganza or a small performance in the West Village, see something and get your tickets in advance.
