Dating is hard enough in this world and dating in New York City is no different. It may seem like the endless options of restaurants, bars, and events all provide opportunities to hand out those digits nearly every night - if only this was true. As someone who met her now fiancé in a New York City bar, I was very familiar with the bar scene in search for a cutie who would sweep me off my feet. While I was fortunate to find my prince charming, there are still lots of eligible bachelorettes in search of their main squeeze. So when a new hotspot bar opened in Battery Park City, I knew it was a sure thing for my single girlfriends to head down south and grab a drink by the water.
If you’ve eaten or had drinks at the Midtown NYC location of Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House – or been to their other locations nationally in places like Chicago, Charlotte, and Dallas – you know why this steak house is so famous and so popular. Fortunately for us downtown folks, Del Frisco’s chose to build a more laid back version of their corporate spot aptly titled Del Frisco's Grille. The second Manhattan location of the Grille, this new addition to Brookfield Place offers a vast variety of craft cocktails and award-winning wine along with their menu of classic dishes like the Del Frisco's Grille Prime Cheeseburger and their famous Prime Rib Short Beef Stroganoff. Knowing this was basically a large version of a "man's cave", i.e: multiple large screen TVs, plush seating, and lots of beer on tap, I knew it would be the ideal spot for my single girlfriend's next happy hour.
Overview: A cocktail of young financiers, up-and-coming media execs and Time Inc. writers, this spot attracts a various crew of professionals. Creative types from Conde Nast mix with bankers from Goldman and RBC, while mingling with Saks buyers and magazine editors. This bar truly represents the diversity New York offers. Plus the ties let loose during happy hour when work lets out around the six o'clock hour.
What to Wear - Happy Hour:
Happy hour drinks are never easy to dress for no matter the location. No one plans for happy hour when dressing for work, so I carefully thought to wear something work-friendly but also coyly stylish. A matching set, like this one from Hellessy, is appropriate for meetings with your VP but also flirty enough to relish in feminine vibes while giggling with the cutie at the bar.
What to Wear - The Weekend:
Just in case you choose to visit during the weekend, you'll want to remain chicly casual in a denim ensemble. My GRLFRND jeans with a statement top like this one from Hellessy's Fall 2017 collection is great for college game day watching at the bar with your new boyfriend you already met at Del Frisco's Grille :)
