Live life in style

SUMMER AT THE SOUTH STREET SEAPORT

When I first moved to New York City, I lived way downtown in the Financial District (FiDi, as many New Yorkers call it). I would meet friends on Stone Street, hit up Century 21 on the weekends for shopping and make my way into Tribeca for dinner. Rarely did I trek to the South Street Seaport, only because there wasn't nearly as much to do as there were in the other areas of town. Last week I headed back to my old stomping grounds to meet up with friends during happy hour and enjoy some laughter and libations. I could not believe the amazing amount of activities and attractions built since I last lived in the area almost six years ago. I walked around  and discovered  awesome new spots I cannot wait to try. As well, with all my posts, reveal what I'll be wearing when heading back down to one of the most southern points on the island of Manhattan.

CIRLCE LINE FERRY
The Circle Line ferries you around the city, making it a perfect attraction for a warm summer day. I have yet to join the many tourists that line the seaport dock when boarding this popular boat ride. I am waiting for some sunny weather this summer to board this boat and enjoy the sights of the city.

I-PIC THEATRE
A newly constructed movie theater in the heart of the area, this is unlike anything seen at your local AMC or Regal Cinema. The I-PIC theatre offers plush, stadium seating, as well as drinks and dinner to your seats and top notch service. Skip the normal cinema experience for a luxurious meal at a luxurious theater while taking in the latest summer Blockbuster.

This is one spot I have been to on multiple occasions. It sits right on the pier, offering amazing views of the water, Brooklyn and Long Island City. An amazing drinking location which needs no excuse except for warm weather.

STONE STREET
More like a thoroughfare of the Financial District, this street is lined with multiple options of top-notch restaurants and bars. A perfect place for people watching, the area attracts a group of young adult financial folk and creative types who work in the area. Benches line the street, where it is totally legal to drink in the middle of the street; in fact, it is welcomed!

While checking out the cobblestone streets of the South Street Seaport, I wanted to stay casually chic in this Hellessy asymmetrical top, Manoush skirt and Gucci loafers. Unfortunately these styles are from past seasons, but you can shop similar looks below to create this on-trend and fashion forward look for a downtown evening.
